There is no better place to celebrate the 4th of July than GLP. As we walked in the parade with crowds of children of all ages, along the beautiful waters of Long Island Sound, kids were on bicycles, tricycles, in strollers and wagons, as well as on foot or on Daddy's shoulders. They loved the people cheering them on from the sidelines as they made their way along the parade route. Even our 6 month old grandson, joining his 2 older brothers, loved all the cheering and people, and stayed awake through the whole route, grinning at everyone he passed. Stragglers were kept moving by the fire engines that came along behind the marchers, ensuring that no one got too far behind. As the kids finished marching, they moved to the sides of the street to catch the candy and enjoy the floats and fire engines that came behind. The GLP parade band was a great addition- keeping us moving to the music as we walked along. Everyone wandered home to barbecues and beaches. Main Beach was very windy, with unusually high surf all afternoon, but it didn't stop anyone from enjoying the day.
